Troops may spawn with visibly different gear which may affect their in-game ratings. At this point in development, they function as mercenary bands. Press Ctrl-V to paste the code and you'll instantly see the banner appear in your game. They are clans and not kingdoms, and as such, are free to change faction allegiance like any other clan. However, they have slightly better one-handed skill and cheaper wages. Comparatively, the Banner Knight is less armored than the Elite Cataphracts in terms of body and horse armor.

They are very similar to the Empire's Imperial Elite CataphractВ in strength.
